CASINO GARDEN was founded in 2017 in Wuppertal by singer and guitarist Matthias Wiercinski, keyboardist Helene Ballke, bassist Oliver Kroker and drummer Alexander Alaimo Di Loro. In 2018, their debut album „Slide“ was released, which despite its low-budget production, garnered widespread acclaim in the underground shoegaze scene worldwide. This caught the attention of the American indie label Custom Made Music, which released the album on cassette.
The following year saw the release of their second album, „Get Your Shit Together“, which had a noticeable influence from alternative rock, also through Custom Made Music. VISIONS magazine selected it as Demo of the Month. During the pandemic in 2021, their third album „Oliver Oliver“ was released, this time through the British indie label Shore Dive Records. The consistently positive reviews from critics paved the way for promising concerts: despite challenging times for small bands, the shoegazers managed to fill their band’s coffers and bring new partners on board for the next album.
Their new album „Transition“ is their fourth work, this time mixed by Jo Philippi (Vandermeer) and mastered by the Schall und Wahn Studios. As the name suggests, the album marks a turning point in the band’s history: Jonas Schoelen, who frequently filled in on drums for live performances, replaced founding member Alexander Alaimo Di Loro during the album’s production, and with David Burdina, CASINO GARDEN now has a second guitarist.
