EMPTY STADIUMS are back. Three and a half years after their album ‘Tales From The Void’ (Midsummer Records), Dennis Herzog and Basti Schaurer are releasing their new EP ‘YAC’ on 3 March via Barhill Records. Barhill Records will also take over the digital catalogue of the Frankfurt ambient post-rock duo.
EMPTY STADIUMS – that’s Dennis Herzog and Basti Schaurer. As their old band THE WATER SAFETY, with whom they released the album ‘Happiness Is A Warm Wookie’ in January 2013, is still on hiatus, the two musicians from Frankfurt started exchanging sound snippets and jams at some point. However, they never found the time to finalise songs. In 2019, even before the real empty stadiums became a reality, things got serious: EMPTY STADIUMS were born. In 2020, they finally started the recording sessions. With a focus on turning improvised ideas into song-like structures, Basti and Dennis oscillated between lo-fi kitchen sessions, tape loop Fridays, fuzzy couch bass licks and noisy basement jams, capturing vibes and blending different influences to create their own sound. The result was called ‘Tales From The Void’ and was released in October 2021 via Midsummer Records.
