KHAIMA

Based in Saarbrücken, Germany, KHAIMA create a sound that is influenced by various elements of progressive and alternative rock as well as current metal styles. The song structures do not follow classical or forced patterns.

Oriental-like guitar arpeggios are enriched with spherical effects, thus forming the musical framework. Extroverted bass lines carry the rhythm and are not afraid of cross references to the Afro-American music of the 60s and 70s. The drums fit perfectly into this sound bed by differentiated changes of odd meters and fragile hi-hat patterns. The synthesizer‘s effectively restrained soundscapes put it all together and open the view to the big picture.

Singer Sven Hill, guitarist Toufik Bougherara and Markus Scherer on drums founded the band in 2013. Bassist Jo Rauber joined in 2015 and keyboarder Andreas Becker in 2019. After their EP „Khaima“ (2016) the band recorded their debut album „Owing To The Influence“ with producer Mike Balzer (member and producer of Flares) in Saarbrücken. The songs were mastered by Cult Of Luna drummer Magnus Lindberg (www.magnuslindberg.com, e.g. Refused, Dool, Russian Circles).
