WIR SIND FLIEGEN (means: We Are Flies) do not redefine the term punk – that seems impossible anyway. Much more the term is broken down to the essentials. WIR SIND FLIEGEN play a dark mix of electro and punk and try not to come across as modern. The two musicians behind the project are and have been active in other bands for years and here they throw together elements from different genres in such a refreshing way, which in the end sound classic again and also a bit „wavy“, that you can‘t really estimate to assign the songs in time.
The two-piece project brings the concentrated power of a whole band and comes along dangerously danceable. Pogo or not, that‘s up to you. The songs of the self-titled debut EP reflect the current mood during an ongoing pandemic, confronted with contrarians, right-wing structures, war and crises. An often lonely nocturnal journey through one‘s own head with the attempt to come to terms with this madness.
