Die Wuppertaler Connection geht weiter. Sascha Wiercinski alias Old Nobody und Oliver Kroker und Matthias Ballke von den Shoegazern Casino Garden veröffentlichen heute die Single „Hold On“. Der Song ist aus dem digitalen Album „Stroke“, das am 4. August zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum des Schlaganfalls von Sascha Wiercinskis Ehefrau erscheint.
Eine alleinerziehende Mutter, die ihr Leben lang kämpft – bis ihr Körper irgendwann nicht mehr kann. Schlaganfall. Sprache weg. Bewegung weg. Ein Punkt, der wie ein Ende wirkt. Doch „Hold On“ beginnt genau dort. Schritt für Schritt zurück: vom Liegen… zum Rollstuhl… bis sie am Ende wieder selbst läuft. Kein einfacher Weg. Keine Heldengeschichte. Sondern ein langsames Zurück ins Leben – mit Rückschlägen, Schmerz und stillen Fortschritten. Und daneben jemand, der bleibt. Der darin seine Lebensaufgabe findet. Nichts wird so wie früher. Aber das Leben und der Kampf gehen weiter. Und genau darum geht es: Stolz. Aufs Weitermachen. Trotz allem. Hold on!
Das Album „Stroke“ wurde von Jo Philippi (Vandermeer) gemixt, der auch das No Body-Album „Loves You“ (Old Nobody mit Aydo Abay und Thomas Götz) gemixt hat. Gemastert wurde es von David Indelof.

Today, the Wuppertal connection continues: Sascha Wiercinski, aka Old Nobody, and Oliver Kroker and Matthias Ballke from the shoegaze band Casino Garden are releasing the single „Hold On”. The song is taken from the digital album „Stroke”, which is due out on 4 August to mark the 20th anniversary of the stroke suffered by Sascha Wiercinski’s wife.
A single mother who has fought all her life – until, at some point, her body can take no more. A stroke. Speech gone. Movement gone. A point that feels like the end. Yet “Hold On” begins precisely there. Step by step back: from lying down… to a wheelchair… until, in the end, she walks again on her own. No easy path. Not a heroic tale. But a slow return to life – with setbacks, pain and quiet progress. And by her side, someone who stays. Who finds his life’s purpose in it. Nothing will be as it was before. But life and the struggle go on. And that is exactly what it’s about: pride. In carrying on. Despite everything. Hold on!
