Wenn eine Band schon beim ersten Lebenszeichen eine posthume EP veröffentlicht, ist klar: Hier geht es nicht um geradlinige Karrieren, sondern um musikalische Geschichten, die sich weigern, abgeschlossen zu werden. So geschehen bei dem Hamburger Trio Men And The Man (2/3 von Hell And High Water), das 2023 mit seiner selbstbetitelten 4-Song-EP ein Echo aus dem Proberaum entsandte, während die Musiker sich längst in andere Gefilde zerstreut hatten.
Doch manches Grollen bleibt im Untergrund – und so fanden Drummer Dennis Reher und Bassist, Organist und Sänger Kai Namslau keine Ruhe, bis 2024 mit Gitarrist Bernd Florian ein neuer Kreis geschlossen wurde. Seitdem pulsiert die Band mit neuem Herzen. Das Resultat: eine zweite EP namens “2”, die fünf Songs umfasst und die Handschrift einer Formation trägt, die ihre eigene Sprache gefunden hat. Man bewegt sich im Spannungsfeld von Alternative Rock und Indierock – zwischen treibenden Grooves, die den Boden wie Herzschläge erzittern lassen, und verspielten Ornamenten, die wie flüchtige Gedankenblitze durch die Songs zucken.

When a band releases a posthumous EP at the very first sign of life, it’s clear that this is not about straightforward careers, but about musical stories that refuse to be concluded. This is what happened with the Hamburg trio Men And The Man (2/3 of Hell And High Water), who sent an echo from their rehearsal room in 2023 with their self-titled 4-song EP, while the musicians had long since scattered to other realms.
But some rumblings remain underground – and so drummer Dennis Reher and bassist, organist and singer Kai Namslau found no peace until 2024, when guitarist Bernd Florian joined them to complete the circle. Since then, the band has been pulsating with a new heart. The result: a second EP called ‘2’, comprising five songs and bearing the signature of a formation that has found its own language. They move in the field of tension between alternative rock and indie rock – between driving grooves that make the ground tremble like heartbeats and playful ornaments that flit through the songs like fleeting flashes of thought.
