Ehrlich? Es war ein verdammt hartes Jahr für Barhill Records wie natürlich für alle anderen Akteure in der Musikindustrie auch. Und es scheint, die Talsohle ist noch nicht erreicht. Nun wollen wir uns aber in eine kurze Festtagspause verabschieden – das aber nicht ohne ein Präsent für Euch: die digitale EP „Barhill Records Live Series #2“ (hier zu kaufen: https://barhillrecords.de/produkt/liveseries2/).
Die Idee war, jeden Dezember eine EP mit Live-Songs verschiedener Barhill Records-Künstler*innen zu veröffentlichen. Der erste Teil der „Barhill Records Live Series“ wurde Ende 2019 veröffentlicht. Dann traf uns Covid und stellte alles auf den Kopf. Aber jetzt ist die Live-Serie zurück. „Barhill Records Live Series #2“ erscheint heute weltweit in allen digitalen Stores – mit Tracks von Poisoned Speed, Disso!ver, SpeedBottles (exklusiv) und dem neuesten Mitglied der Barhill-Familie: Citizen Tim (exklusiv).
Hier weitere Infos zu Citizen Tims „Harvest Season“: Der Song handelt davon, was wir glauben, im Leben verdient zu haben und von der Frage: „Wann bin ich endlich mal an der Reihe?“. Grundsätzlich lässt sich der Song in zwei Perspektiven unterscheiden: 1. Die Kategorie Mensch, die eh schon privilegiert ist und trotzdem glaubt, sie wäre endlich mal am Zuge und hätte mehr verdient. 2. die Kategorie Mensch, die jeden Tag am Existenz-Minimum kämpft und vor lauter Arbeit gar keine Zeit hat, sich die Frage zu stellen, wann sie an der Reihe ist.
Die Idee zu dem Song kam mir in New York 2019. Die U-Bahn in Manhattan bietet morgens schon ein abstruses Bild: Da sind zum einen die Männer und Frauen im feinen Zwirn auf dem Weg zu ihren Jobs, die vermutlich mal gar nicht so wenig Kohle einbringen. Zum anderen sind da aber auch die Leute im nicht so feinen Zwirn, die vermutlich auch nicht in Manhattan leben können und deren Job darin besteht, die Kids (in teuren Uniformen) anderer Menschen zur Schule zu bringen und auch wieder abzuholen. Das kotzt einen schon ziemlich an, je länger man sich dieses Bild verinnerlicht!

Honestly? It’s been one hell of a year for Barhill Records, as it has for all the other players in the music industry, of course. And it seems the bottom hasn’t been reached yet. But now we want to say goodbye to a short festive break – but not without a present for you: the digital EP „Barhill Records Live Series #2“ (you can buy it here: https://barhillrecords.de/produkt/liveseries2/).
The idea was to release an EP with live songs of different Barhill Records acts every December. The first edition of the „Barhill Records Live Series“ was released at the end of 2019. Then Covid hit us and turned everything upside down. But now, our live series is back. „Barhill Records Live Series #2“ hits the digital stores today with tracks from Poisoned Speed, Disso!ver, SpeedBottles (exclusive track) and the newest addition to the Barhill family: Citizen Tim (exclusive track).

Basically, the song can be divided into two perspectives: 1. the category of people who are already privileged and still believe that it’s finally their turn and they deserve more. 2. the category of people who struggle every day at the subsistence minimum and have so much work and no time to ask themselves the question of when it is their turn.
The idea for the song came to me in New York 2019. The subway in Manhattan offers in the morning already an abstruse picture: There are on the one hand the men and women in fine threads on the way to their jobs, which probably do not bring so little money. On the other hand, there are the people in not so fine clothes, who probably can’t live in Manhattan either and whose job it is to take other people’s kids (in expensive uniforms) to school and pick them up again. It really pisses you off the longer you internalize this image!
