„Easy Care“ heißt die Debütsingle der Kölner Rockband plasticsoup. Mit elektronischem Puls und kühlen Synthies schleicht sich der erste Song auf ihrem Album „The Beauty Of Dysfunction“ langsam an, bevor ein hypnotisches Riff einsetzt, das sich lange wiederholt. Kommt da noch was? Ja, endlich sowas wie ein Refrain: „Easy care is a laugh“. Ein Scherz, diese Mär vom bügelfreien Leben.
Und was heißt das jetzt? Es geht wohl um Beziehungen, vor allem um solche, die älter werden. Was tun? Was lassen? Was bleibt? Was verschwindet? Ist das jetzt alles oder gäbe es da noch was anderes? „Who will bail you out?“ plasticsoup liefern keine Antworten, aber sie sind wach genug, um Fragen zu stellen.
Kommt da noch was? Erstmal kommt da ein krachiges Finale aus wütenden Fuzz-Gitarren, und mit all dem hat „Easy Care“ den Ton für den Rest des Albums angegeben, das zwischen Psychedelic, Post-Punk und Americana oszilliert. „The Beauty of Dysfunction“ erscheint am 12.04.2024 über Barhill Records.

Is there anything else to come? Yes, finally something like a chorus: „Easy care is a laugh“. A joke, this tale of a life without ironing.
And what does that mean now? It’s probably about relationships, especially those that are getting older. What to do? What to leave? What stays? What disappears? Is that all, or is there something else? „Who will bail you out?“ plasticsoup don’t provide any answers, but they are alert enough to ask questions.
Is there more to come? First of all, there’s a noisy finale of angry fuzz guitars, and with all this, „Easy Care“ has set the tone for the rest of the album, which oscillates between psychedelic, post-punk and Americana. „The Beauty of Dysfunction“ will be released on 12.04.2024 via Barhill Records.
